 Happy Tuesday!
During Social Studies a few weeks ago, we learned about maps. We learned that maps help us find things and how to get from one place to another. In school, we made a map of our bedrooms.  We thought about the big furniture and what different pieces would look like if we were birds flying overhead.  We also included a compass rose AND a key to help us understand what the different parts of the room would look like. Today I would like you to try your best to make a bird's eye map of one room in your house (any room you choose)!

1.            Follow this link on bookflix to read about maps

(the username is Rosendale, the password is Rosendale)

2.     Look around the room  you chose and think about the big pieces of furniture.  Look at the top of those pieces and notice what shape they are.

3.     Try to imagine what the room looks like if you were a bird flying overhead.

4.     Do your best to draw a bird’s eye view of the room!

Hello First Graders,
Happy Monday!! I hope everyone had a great weekend! My family and I spent some time outside getting some exercise and fresh air, even in the rain! What did you do? During Fundations, we have learned SO many trick words this year. For today’s activity, follow the steps below, and have fun!

1.     Choose 5 words that are still tricking you. Write each word on a piece of paper or a note card.

2.     Next, have your grown up hide these cards or papers around the house.

3.     Look for the hidden cards.

4.     Once your find ALL of the papers or cards, practice writing each of the words 5 times on the back of the paper or note card.

Hello Friends,
Can you believe this weather?! What a change we've had in just a few short days! A few days ago Scarlett was painting rocks for her families garden, and then just a couple days later Aria and her sister were sledding! Check out their pictures below.........

Hello First Graders,

Happy Tuesday! During this time away from school I have been doing some writing, mostly in my special journal I got for my birthday! Have any of you been doing some writing at home?

During Writer’s Workshop, we started writing All About books. When we write all about books we choose a topic we know A LOT about, then write a book that shares real, true facts about that topic.  For today's activity, follow the steps below, and have fun!!
  • Think about something you know a lot about.
  •  Ask yourself, “what can I tell others about this topic”, “what would be interesting for others to read about this topic”?
  •  Write (or begin) a non-fiction book about your topic and then share it with your family. You could even call friends, relatives that don’t live with you and read it to them over the phone! Remember, you can spread this work out over the whole day (or several days)…maybe make the cover during one session, and then a chapter at a time until you feel your book is done!
